Study discusses the genetic basis for familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) in some Libyan patients at Tripoli city, examining the distribution of variants that associated with mutations in exon 12 of low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene on chromosome 19. Genetic analysis were done using polymerases chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) based on DNA technique, to detect splicing defects of the LDL-R gene in exon 12 on chromosome 19, among some Libyans patients probably have heterozygous familial hypercholesterol-emia (HeFH). The patient’svolunteer’s participants in this study were from Tajjora National Cardiac Center, Endocrine and Diabetic Hospital in Tripoli. The study showed the presence of the splicing defects (1845 +11 C>G)in the exon 12 of the LDL-R gene on chromosome 19 in patients with hyperchol-esterolemia and ischemic heart disease, as they have family history in hypercholesterolemia and other secondary causes to heart disease such as diabetic, hypertension, chest pain, and obesity. Frequency of HeFH Libyan patients was (0.86%), and the significant of statistical analysis were{p-value>0.05}, which considered high according to clinical diagnostic criteria for HeFH. As well as detection the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) (1773C>T) that alter the exon splicing efficiency, because it is associated with an emerging of the functional genetic variants for mutations in exon-12, where results of molecular diagnosis confirmed that occurrence the mutation of (LDL-R gene) relates to premature coronary artery diseases(P-CAD). arabic 35 English 137

The paper discusses how L2 writers use their L1 while writing in L2. It investigates L1use in L2 by exploring the results of ten studies that examined it from different perspectives and in different contexts. By introducing the results of L1 use by L2 writers,ESL/EFL teachers will play a great role by helping students use their L1 positively andavoid the negative impacts of L1 use. This kind of research is of significance because thestudied research results showed that further research is needed in this area. This reviewwill provide a basis for ideas to investigate L1 use in L2 writing.The paper focuses on an important skill in English language teaching which is writing.The focus of the paper is L1 use which has been considered as taboo. This would targetthe interest of most of HLT audience, especially writing teachers. The main mission is tointroduce the role of L1 use in L2 writing. This paper reviews the second language (L2)writers’ use of the first language (L1) while composing in the second language (L2) inten studies. Those studies looked at three proficiency groups that included adult high- proficient, intermediate, and low-proficient writer’s use of L1. The results indicated thatL1 is used frequently while writing in L2 by translating, language-switching, and backtracking. تهدف الدراسة للتعرف على اتجاهات أعضاء هيئة التدريس بكلية التربية طرابلس نحو إمكانية استخدام التعليم عن بعد في برامج الكلية ، ولتحقيق ذلك تم استخدم المنهج الوصفي، كما تم اعتماد (الاستبيان) البالغ عدد فقراته (24) فقرة كأداة لجمع البيانات من عينة قوامها (100) عضو هيئة تدريس بنسبة (83%) من إجمالي (120) عضو هيئة تدريس ، وأظهرت النتائج وعي عينة الدراسة بأهمية هذا النوع من التعليم. كما أظهرت النتائج اقتصر توظيف عينة الدراسة في استخدام الحاسوب، وأوصت الدراسة بإجراء الدورات التدريبية لاستخدام هذا النوع من التعليم
